Scientists on California Drought, and the Mystery Blob!

California is prone to droughts, and the historic record points to numerous long and severe dry spells. It is difficult to show scientifically that climate change is responsible for this or that particular drought, but scientists agree that a warmer climate intensifies droughts when they do occur.

The current drought is exceptional. A recent tree ring study shows no comparable dry spell in the past 1,200 years.

a new pattern. Droughts for the south and California. Huge snow and cold for the east coast when it used to be in the Midwest. Floods, bigger hurricanes and tornados for the south east. If this is true something like climate change has to be causing this change.

Climate-wise, are things getting better, where there are sustained cooling trends globally, where droughts are less frequent and less severe, where water tables are stable or rising, where ocean temperatures and PH levels are stable and positive in outlook, or from what anyone with common sense can tell, are things getting worse? It's a simple question.

We know that our fossil fuel powered internal combustion engines and coal fired powerplants exhaust carbon dioxide into the chemical mix that is our atmosphere and that carbon dioxide is a known greenhouse gas that traps heat from escaping back out into space. We know this.

We know that we humans will continue to pour more CO2 into the atmospheric if nothing else changes.

We know that Republis will deny and fight against efforts to clean up our dangerous practices of pouring more CO2 into the atmosphere.

We know that Democrats will fight for clean energy and a better future for everyone.

And yet, when it comes time to act, we American humans elect Republis or conversely, choose not to vote for Democrats and thus Republis get elected and draft more dirty fossil fuel based legislation.

Maybe if we all acted in our own best interests based on what we know, the world would be a better place.

For early man, the shadows would be still or move backward for undercurrent continents.
