1. That's all well and good....

...but we aren't going to get "job training, rebuilding our infrastructure, making sure we have the best education system in the world, making sure that we are 'protecting our workers', and fighting for strong labor rights here in the USA"....is all well and good. The facts are, we are NEVER going to do ANY of those things, as long as we have the reich wing, austerity thugs pushing back on ANY improvements to our country. Get real.

I am an Obama supporter, but he's not being genuine when he spews this nonsense. Yeah....all good things we need to focus on. Reality is, we'll be lucky to keep what we have, but will very unlikely see an improvement in any of the areas he mentioned that we need to work on.

Come on Prez, be serious. You are too respected to pull this bull shit smoke screen garbage on us.

2. Because the right wing is in the way of progress.... is no reason to toss the President out with the bath water.

7. Not tossing him out....

...but sure don't appreciate the line he is feeding us. The logic is pretty straight forward. "IF these things were going to happen...", then sure, it makes sense. But you and I both know those things AREN'T going to happen. The repuKKKes are standing in the way of any progress, and as I said before, we'll be lucky to keep the modest progress we've made, and more probably lose some of it with a reich wing Congress to deal with.

Not tossing him out with the bath water at all. He's a hero to me; but this is beneath him. I think he honestly needs to consider what is reality and deal with it from there. We are NOT going to see this Congress make any positive progress with regards to education, labor or anything else for that matter, except maybe figure out some ways to prevent more abortions, oppress people of color and sexual preferences different than the mainstream, and more tax breaks for the "stock holders".

I understand your wanting to recognize him for what he has done and is doing for the working man and the average American family; but THIS is not in our interest AT ALL. If he could make the repuKKKes actually work for all Americans, then it might make sense. They won't, and never will; and he damn well knows it - or should.

It's the "working with the Republicans" approach he started out with in 2008 when the Democrats controlled all three branches of government. Now he's working with the Republicans on the TPP and wants us to go along with it. Sorry, the Republicans will never agree to fund the idealistic programs he is trumpeting. He's a smart man, he must know this.

5. Too many broken promises from this man

He doesn't have the horns on his head the conservatives says or think he does, but he has shown clearly that he supports the 1% over the 99% time and time again.
I still support 2008 candidate Obama, but this isn't the same man.
What I don't know, and would like to know is does he really believe in things like the TPP or he he just going along with what his advisor's tell him. Seems like a smart man, but I just find it hard to grasp he doesn't see how bad the TPP really is.

9. Who Knows? Maybe Obama's in the Dark On This!

But that's highly unlikely. Even from what has been leaked to us, the ordinary public, about this nasty trade deal, we already know enough about it to turn it down unconditionally. And Obama must know at least as much as we do. Then, Obama must be a gunga-din, carrying water for the corporate masters on this one. Too bad it would wipe out everything else that he has fought so hard to achieve.

10. Making Sure? And what does that really mean?
Mon May 11, 2015, 12:46 AM

Making sure we have the best education system? Making sure we are protecting our workers? Making sure labor rights are protected?
Rebuilding our infrastructure. Job training, etc, etc..

The cost of college education has risen 1120 % over the last thirty years. Black kids in this country have 69% H.S. graduation rate. Only 1 in 4 H. S. students graduate prepared for college.

Our infrastructure continues to deteriorate.

As far as protecting our workers.. Americans take less vacation, work longer days, and retire later than anyone in the industrialized world and they're making less money, while the rich who will benefit by Obama's trade bill continue to get richer.

Has anyone ever seen Barack Obama fight for any of these middle class problems like he's fighting for this trade bill?

11. It's the Pentagon, Stupid
Mon May 11, 2015, 02:05 AM
May 2015

Whether or not he understands that the Pentagon requires greater economic globalization for the US military to continue to expand and assert greater and greater dominance, is not really important. He's just one person, one citizen, and he's entitled to his viewpoint.

His all-of-the-above Energy policy proves that he doesn't appreciate the environmental cataclysm that is economic globalization, so he let's himself be persuaded by the mantra of COMPETITION, that he's the American leader, and he's got to make us competitive above all else.

So that's how the Pentagon dupes him into accepting these secondary consequences of job losses, drought, famine, dead oceans, unemployment, pay to play democracy, because, hey, at least we are still the cops of the world.

But without globalization, we lose our military mandate.
