Just stumbled across this movie, though it's been out since 2011. Fascinating and informative...so much I hadn't known about this major historical event.

(41,126 posts)There's a historic marked driving tour of Booth's escape route from DC into VA and southern Maryland that takes about 2 hours. We did it in the 80s, very interesting especially the DR. SAMUEL A. MUDD House and Museum in Waldorf, MD.
I'll never forget seeing the artifacts and room where Dr. Mudd set Booth's broken leg. Two ladies who were guides in period costume said they were great nieces of Dr. Mudd. The well known TV news reporter Roger Mudd is a descendent.

Conspirator Mary SURRATT'S H Street NW, Washington, D.C. BOARDING HOUSE, near Chinatown still stands.
-Mary Surratt also owned a FARM in southern MD which exists. It is in the town of Clinton, Md.; the name was changed from Surrattsville.

I was intrigued to learn that the young Union captain (Aiken) who defended Mary Surratt went on to become a journalist and first city editor of the Washington Post after his law firm was dissolved (in part to do with the unpopularity of his defense of Surrat).
