(52,713 posts)Many of them just pretend to be dumb. They think that if people think they're too stupid to understand the laws, that they'll be given opportunities to go beyond the scope of the law. "Oh, it's just ignorance." How many times have you heard a police chief or other head of a criminal investigative agency use that excuse when it involves investigating someone in their own inner circle? I've heard it too often.
It's very easy for Republicans to play this game. They don't like leaders who try too hard to follow the law because it means they will have to share the benefit of programs with people they don't like.
I think that what is going on behind Republican motives is far more discriminatory and racist than anyone realizes--and this is the basis of inequality in our society.

(3,321 posts)Because absolutely everyone can afford an Apple Watch to maintain your health status!
Let's take the people out of healthcare entirely! I'm sure we'll all be perfectly healthy and happy with a string of apps on our phones telling us that we're eating too many butterscotch sundaes. Except for those apps that have ads from Dairy Queen in them. And the apps that tell people they're smoking too much! Except for the ones with ads from Camel and Marlboro.
Nono, those money-driven corporations really -really- care about the wellbeing of people!
Welcome to the new narrative, everyone. Tone-deaf politicians who are so out of touch with their constituents that they figure an expensive gadget that hardly anyone can afford is better than a health care system.

(20,166 posts)During 1992 Presidential Election campaign, challenger Gov. Bill Clinton of Arkansas attacked the incumbent president George H. W. Bush as not doing enough to assist the working middle-class and being out of touch with the common man. A gaffeoverhyped by mediaplayed right into Clintons hands on February 5th, when the president visited a national grocers convention in Orlando, Florida.
There Bush expressed amazement at new grocery store technology, first reported by Andrew Rosenthal in the New York Times. (Rosenthal wasnt even there at the convention. He based his article on a two-paragraph report filed by the lone pool newspaperman, Gregg McDonald of the Houston Chronicle, who wrote that Bush had a look of wonder on his face.) Though it is still disputed what Bush expressed amazement about, it was widely reported at the time that Bushs amazement was over the checkout scanner-technology widely used by grocery stores since 1980, the very year Bush, a career bureaucrat, moved into the vice-presidential mansion.
Failing to be familiar with this technology made Bush appear to be an elitist who didnt even have to go to the grocery store, and thus someone who was unable to feel the financial pinch facing ordinary Americans. It sank his re-election campaign. However, it was also argued that Bush was impressed by new scanner technology that could weigh groceries and read damaged bar codes. The Times refused to retract.

He must have been far more stupid than he showed while President. Either that, or I missed a great deal during the Bush Administration. Because now Jeb is looking like the stupid one. (11,175 posts)OK, I cannot tell a lie; I was curious what the Freepers had to say about this pronouncement, and I must credit Freeper TLI with this brilliant coinage.
Incidentally, more than one Freeper expresses doubt about Jeb's sincerity in saying he wants to repeal Obamacare. With that I agree. I think "repeal Obamacare" is similar to "overturn Roe v. Wade" -- the Republicans have to pay lip service to that goal, to appease the base and to fuel fundraising, but they know that achieving the supposed goal would be a political disaster because of the backlash from all those harmed.

(750 posts)That constant mantra that derides the Affordable Care Act all the while constantly characterizing it as Obama Care is in your face obnoxiously race baiting, especially in predominant white electorate gathering.
Jeb knows how his new watch could also be used to preserve his life, and build the family fortune other than a warning about an imbalance in his sugar level.
The secret applications Bush likely has are parameter identity theft , is loaded with data about anti-Bush electorates, his private family application mapping the area for left wing do-gooders. Are you laughing yet, well its not funny, yet it is.
Bush is likely loaded with special apps developed through secret tax dollars with secret metadata captured by the famous, Booz, Allen, Hamilton Public Relations secret squad
subcontracted with partnership with their friendly business partner The Bin Laden family famous for terror, torture and swindling of American tax dollars.
The timing is reset since Jeb said he decided not to go into Iraq with the knowledge we know now. All begs the question since his brother said he did what he did, and Cheney said he would do it again. With that said, what we know now begs the questions of what does Jeb know that America does not know.
If Hillary does not challenge that for an investigation it will be a surprise to me. With that said, Jeb, just fell into the rabbit hole just handed over the election to Hillary. Jeb is late, he is late no time to say hello good by Jeb is late.
All this is an inane rambling that Bush and the Republican Party are impatient to take charge to provoke new way to swindle the American tax dollars.

The same reason that Obama care make sense is the same reason technological steps like this make sense because the best way to treat illness is to prevent it. -Self diagnosing is as safe as juggling chainsaws on a wire: you think you can do it but we all know how its gonna end. This is also a good reason to end those medication ads that show up on the talking head networks.
-I'm pretty sure most people can't afford an apple watch, let alone health insurance.
