Police Try to Arrest Young Girl and The Community Did Not Allow It.

New York, NY– On May 14, copwatcher Michael Barber of the Copwatch Patrol Unit was out doing a great public service in which he frequently engages – filming the police. As he was doing so, he captured something absolutely amazing.

The video, originally posted to Facebook early Friday morning, captured undercover officers grabbing at children while attempting to arrest a 14-year-old girl. This was reportedly over allegations that a child who was with her, who witnesses say appeared to be around 7-years-old, had pushed the button on a police call box.

going to take not accepting the sort of policing that doesn't help communities, but instead tear communities apart. Stand up. Say no. Shut it down.

(just be prepared for the asswhooping that's likely to follow when the embarrassed authority decides they need to put you in your place)

absoulutely what triggered that ego asshole cop mentality. these are the idiots that need to be off the streets. there is no retraining that mentality. it is exactly what these bigot steroid addicted cops are hired for: to bully the people, not keep the peace of a community and respect citizens.

he manhandled the 14 year old for stating her rights to him and it pissed him off.

power to the people.

That one guy with big muscles and a big head is definitely using steroids.

And when the girl mouthed off to him he was so quick to anger and get out of his car to confront her. Classic steroid user behavior.

so his response was to intimidate her, thank goodness that neighborhood woman wasn't going to allow him to get away with it. The minute he touched her, I was livid. This sort of things makes people dislike cops, because all they appear to do is bully the powerless, while real criminals are left to wander the streets.

of actual cops molesting people in their custody let alone fake ones looking to kidnap people.

I would have probably done the same if it were my daughter. two male plains clothes cops in an unmarked car wanna put their hands on my girl and take her somewhere without my permission? hell no.

Since when is it OK for two strange men to abduct a young girl from the sidewalk and throw her into a car??

Anybody could claim to be a PO. From what I could tell from the video the one officer wouldn't even identify himself except to say"NY precinct" (couldn't quite make this out). This incident should be followed-up and an explanation demanded. This shouldn't be the end of it.

IN Addition: There should be a demand from citizens for all cops to be routinely tested for substance abuse. Every time I view one of these videos it appears that the cops are high on something - steroids? PCP? I don't know, but they're all "loaded for bear", as the saying goes.

That one cop got back out of his car after that girl apparently mouthed-off at him. Well, here's a memo: There are a number of professions where one encounters people who are angry, in an excited mental state etc. - Social Work, for one. It goes with the job. You are not entitled to beat someone senseless, break their neck or shoot them just because you're called 'motherfucker' or some other epithet.

Cops who are so thin-skinned should be counseled out of the profession.

you. too many psychos are using cop or military uniforms - or not even bothering and just state they are law enforcement - to terrorize community members. this is also going on in rural communities. one particular group in southern oregon has been especially vicious.

associated with the annual breeding season which is triggered by an increase in testosterone. When these guys shoot steroids their testosterone level goes up hundreds of times. They are not in their right minds.

This is how you change things. It takes strong people who are brave enough to say "Enough!" and a community to back them up.

It's not easy. It's really fucking hard, actually. They will fight us and beat us and do it all over again an extra time if you're a minority. Most resistance to cops doesn't end like this. But it has to. Every wrongful arrest needs the community who sees to step in and resist.

Sadly, I don't see many people ready to do this who aren't directly impacted by it.

Good on them for standing up. I think things to educate people on their rights, including community meetings, handouts, and web sites to tell people exactly what their rights are and what the cops are allowed to do. These fucking cops will take advantage of every possible gap they can find and they depend on fear and ignorance to get away with their illegal activities. That is why they prey on underprivileged communities, by figuring they don't have a lawyer or a knowledgable person to back them up. So WE have to become the street lawyers and community defenders. And we have to show up at town halls and demand these police chiefs over corrupt forces be held accountable. I'm hoping that some structure can be created because people will participate and show up. We can fix this, we just have to begin.

Well, maybe not that bad, but what's with all the military tactics these days? It's just getting beyond crazy. I read somewhere that city swat cops are more heavily armed than soldiers in Iraq were.

I'd like to take this moment and thank those who made this moment possible: all of the protesters AND RIOTERS of Ferguson and Baltimore that showed the nations police that their bullshit will no longer be tolerated. Yes, I thanked the rioters. Because if it wasn't for people rising up then I feel very confident in stating that this situation would not have ended as well as it did. But police now have gotten the message.
