so many issues here. She's okay with the officer drawing his gun, but she doesn't think he was really going to use it. You don't draw and aim your gun unless you're ready to shoot. You don't shoot unless you're ready to kill. Would she be okay with a cop using his knee to force her own teenage daughter's face into the dirt and then cram another knee into her daughter's back with full weight?

The unspoken agreement is: We're okay with you violating the civil rights of black teenage boys, because we're afraid of them. Just keep them out of our lives and our neighborhoods, and out of sight, and if you ever find yourself in front of a jury for shooting one without cause, we'll acquit you. Wink-nudge.

This agreement has been highlighted all the way from Rodney King to Treyvon Martin.

This unspoken agreement has also been the ELEPHANT in the room since Willie Horton.

This is an attitude that about 30% of whites buy in to, but only about 10% actually REALIZE it. The others simply RATIONALIZE it by saying "well, they deserved it," and "why are you highlighting BLUE on BLACK violence when the rate of BLACK on BLACK violence is 10X higher?", without actually realizing what their true motivations are.

In this case, the circular logic on the police's behalf is on display, too. The police said they chased after the black boys because THEY RAN. And...DUH! They RAN because they know that if they don't, something LIKE THIS will happen to them. How convenient. What a great way to ensure that black teenage boys will always run from police, and police will always go after black teenagers when they run...thus ensuring that they get arrested and booked on SOMETHING.
