Mercury was born on Sept. 5, 1946, in Stone Town, Sultanate of Zanzibar. The singer recorded many albums by himself and as part of Queen before his death on Nov. 24, 1991, in London.

(6,592 posts)Still remember first time I heard Bohemian Rhapsody. On radio at work. More and more people were pulled to the radio, everyone in the orbit transfixed. After it ended there was a pause and then, "What the hell was that???!!!"
