Terry Gross, Grover Norquist and the Holocaust

Terry Gross: Excuse me. Excuse me one second. Did you just ...

Grover Norquist: Yeah?

Terry Gross: -- compare the estate tax with the Holocaust?

Grover Norquist: No, the morality that says it's OK to do something to do a group because they're a small percentage of the population is the morality that says that the Holocaust is OK because they didn't target everybody, just a small percentage. What are you worried about? It's not you. It's not you. It's them. And arguing that it's OK to loot some group because it's them, or kill some group because it's them and because it's a small number, that has no place in a democratic society that treats people equally. The government's going to do something to or for us, it should treat us all equally."

On the subject of Pat Buchanan's famously combative "culture war speech" at the 1992 Republican Convention, which attracted controversy over Buchanan's aggressive rhetoric against Bill Clinton, liberals, supporters of reproductive and gay rights, and for his comparison of American politics to religious warfare, Ivins famously quipped that the speech had "probably sounded better in the original German," noting the similarity between the concept of "culture war" and the Kulturkampf of Otto von Bismarck's Germany

Why does Norquist get so much face time? Isn't he just an ordinary citizen? Apartheid was about rascism, Nazism was about extinguishing a race of people; also rascism. So what he has to say here is mostly about himself and the republicans in this country, it has nothing to do with collecting taxes from a billionaire that owes his fair share. Once again why does this dirt-slinger get so much face time?

At various time, Schumer represented Williamsburg (pre-hipster) and Midwood, both of which were and are heavily jewish neighborhoods. So yeah they were voting for a Nazi.

I have problems with some of his policies - he's too close to Israel and Wall Street - but the man is a tireless champion of regular people and the Democratic Party. There is no issue too small for the guy, even though he's a U.S. Senator. I have supported him every time he ran.

Compare that to Grover Nordquist, apostle of greed and power, knight errant of would be kings and dictators.
