I think Booker is just addicted to campaign contributions from Wall Street bazillionaires, many of whom reside in NJ and have contributed to his campaigns in the past.

He obviously has his eye on bigger things, and he doesn't want to piss off the big money donors who might help him get there.

In other words, he's a whore who will say whatever it takes to keep on the side of the 1%.
