Fukushima Japan Nuclear update 5/21/12

Published on May 21, 2012 by MsMilkytheclown

too weary for usual edits today... fill in your own WTF moments...

Arnie Gundersen explains why a Global effort has not been made to extract the spent fuel at Fukushima SFP #4 sighting that it would draw more awareness that the United States and others have the same design on the Mark 1 containment design and the NRC does not want negative publicity.
A new building material to absorb cesium has been developed, but they say NOTHING about the OTHER radioactive isotopes.

Talk about the Pacific Garbage patch from the tsunami, and still nobody has plans for when it arrives.
Here's a killer: Geoparks to show how natural disasters are going to be "preserved" to teach others about disasters...

Meanwhile, get this, a low cost travel agency sends people to Fukushima and explains the radiation to them (of course they do NOT tell What they told the visitors) in an Effort To Increase Tourism to Fukushima! (MsMilky rolling eyes).
A crack very large in spent fuel pool may threaten all life as we know it - at least in the northern hemisphere. (repeating the significance of the situation).

the process of preventing the nuclear contamination of our air and oceans.

Unreal. Only to be real when it's too late. Why isn't there more alarm..

the more quickly it was swept under the rug. I was amazed at how fast Japan fell out of the headlines.

This is truly frightening.

I'm in Portland Oregon, which is 50 miles inland, but which
is also a major port, via Columbia River, intimately tied to
the coastal waters.

I eat my seaweed and pray.

I can't find that particular clip, where he references his own family,
but in these clips Arnie explains why anyone with the means to
do so, SHOULD consider moving "south of the equator" on short
notice. For Arnie to not be following his own advice, while ringing
the alarm for others to do so, doesn't seems very likely IMHO.

We should be getting regular (at least weekly) broadcasts or in print pieces of TRUTH about Fukushima. Our very lives may depend upon this. At least DU could be this source. Another source is Fairewinds.com. Stay informed and oh yeah, yell as loud as you can.

I think many have put their blinders on, because it is so horrifying and possibly inevitable. It is one of those situations where people have no real control over it, so they choose denial over morbid fear.

...then we can all just forget about worrying our poor little heads, I suppose. Because one again, VERY SMART people are apparently saying that there's no need to trouble ourselves since it's such a VERY SMALL ?chance? anything bad can happen.

Again.
