I still remember the first time I saw Jupiter through a telescope. It was on a cold, winter's night and I was viewing it through my sister's 4.5" Newtonian reflector, a Christmas gift she'd received just days ago. I could see just a hint of the planet's bands, but they were definitely visible. More stunning was the sight of the Galilean moons: four white dots, like pearls on a string, on either side of the planet. To see this enormous planet and its moons, held together by invisible forces, just hanging in the night sky was a wonder I'll never forget. It was, in a word, mindblowing.

has been observed from Earth since at least 1655. Our best explanation is that it is a storm not unlike a hurricane. Big planet, big weather.

Our pollution is now spreading through out the solar system. It needs to end now
