Ari Rabin-Havt, -The Agenda/SiriusXM Progress/The Benghazi Hoax joins Thom. For 17 months the Select Committee on Benghazi has failed to conduct dozens of scheduled interviews and hearings. And now one staffer claims he lost his job for not focusing his investigation on Hillary Clinton. Is this the end of this new McCarthyism and the political witch hunt?

(6,419 posts)The Interwebs are so hilarious. A troll is now anyone who says something that the herd disagrees with--especially if they lack the ability to refute that point.
and trolls gotta troll trolls who say that others are trolls!

(24,010 posts)nor of this one in particular. For instance, the "Benghazi" witch hunt has been useful to the 1%-er's media in covering up Hillary Clinton's losses to Bernie Sanders, who has vowed to tax their asses! They have used "Benghazi" and "email" to do just that.
Now that whistleblowers have destroyed the Benghazi issue, and Bernie Sanders has destroyed the "email" issue, BOTH are still useful, very useful.
Originally, Benghazi was useful in smothering the REAL issues, for instance: What was the U.S. doing in Libya? Why did the U.S. help destabilize that country and send it into jihadist chaos? This never got discussed in the 1%-er's media. Instead, we got an irrelevant, phony "scandal" about Hillary.
I don't know if there is a mastermind behind all this distraction and disinformation, but it sure seems to have many uses.
What we have is a Congress with an 8% approval rating (!!!) filled with un-elected ('Diebold' s/elected) rather stupid rightwing nuts who will repeat simple, formulaic lines, and who behave like herd animals. They really make me think that there must be a clever sheep dog somewhere around the periphery. (I guess I shouldn't insult sheep dogs--they're cool!) A godfather of Puke lies lurking in some massive mansion in Virginia, and calling these sheep in, one by one, and giving them their lines.
THAT guy (or cabal of guys) has A PLAN to create total non-issues and propagandize them endlessly, for various REASONS. What I'm saying is that I think it ISN'T just a foreground playlet, with these posturing assholes in Congress picking on Hillary Clinton, because, for some reason--although she's gung-ho Corporate and gung-ho MIC--they don't like her. I think there's far more to it than that. Yeah, they get off on the feeling of power that McCarthyism gives them. But they really are just frontmen--puppets.
And what I see, for instance--as I mentioned above--is that "Benghazi" and "emails" have been used, this time around, to explain away, and smother, peoples' huge positive response to a SOCIALIST who is a straightforward, honest man with a whole lot of good ideas, and who came out of nowhere to match Clinton's polling numbers in bellweather states--New Hampshire, Iowa--AND to match her Corporate/billionaire donors, dollar for dollar, with $30 donations!
Sanders has scared the beejeebers out of someone, and they've had to divert the Benghazi/email strategy from smashing socially liberal Hillary to smashing economically leftist and socially liberal Bernie (by attributing her falling numbers NOT to people's attraction to Bernie, but to the scandals).
The deeper purpose of "Benghazi" may have been the CIA's ploy to direct attention away from what they were doing in Libya. But the purpose of those whom they may have been aiding, in creating a false scandal, is political--deviously political.
Are we done with witch-hunting? Ha-ha-ha. When you infuse such evil, lying bullshit into the world, it doesn't go away. It procreates. And the forces who use pervasive lying in this way--for misdirection, coverup, confusion and gut-level brainwashing--are still very much in power. The tactic of the phony scandal is very useful to them. They won't give it up any time soon. Our problem is how to disempower them. It's not going to be easy.

(84,711 posts)Would you consider posting your whole post in the "GD Primaries Forum" it would get more interest there than here in V&MM. I think you make some interesting points worth thinking about further and discussing. Distraction and Disinformation by our Corporate MIC Owned Media has grown worse with no end in sight. Citizens United Decision was the final blow bringing in even more money and influence. And, why do we have Donald Trump getting constant free airtime which drives his poll numbers up distracting the voters just as Benghazi Hearings distracted from an investigation of the Libya Invasion and deeper discussion of our foreign policy.

(6,419 posts)Got any proof of that? Sorry but I find it humourous.
This was the funniest part:
Why do you think the GOP in Congress needs a US intelligence system and a Starchamber to help them with their witch hunts and time-wasting BS?
Beware of paranoia, my friend. And remember: making connections is intelligent, making connections where there aren't any is loony.

(6,419 posts)I said it's loony to make connections where there aren't any. Anybody can see that what I wrote, even you.
And it's loony to think the CIA is secretly running the Benghazi committee from a mansion in Virginia, giving individual orders to individual Congresspersons, as you wrote. Yes, sorry, that's loony. If I found myself thinking such a thing, I'd start to consider ways to combat paranoia and magical thinking.
