Glee star Jane Lynch narrates this documentary about LGBT rights in America. The video features a candid interview with President Obama, who speaks about the repeal of Don't Ask Don't Tell, why he supports marriage equality, and what's at stake for the LGBT community in this election.

It was safest for this to become national news before the election? Or when more than 50% polled support it. Last time I checked it was almost definitively a Politician's job to follow and represent public opinion... 54% of the Gallup poll before a major election isn't the safest moment to do it and neither was it the safest moment before it polled well to repeal Don't ask don't tell, but what IS different about the strategy here (than the failed strategy of Bill and Hillary clinton's Universal Health Care/LBGT initiatives), is that they had internal institutional support (read: a vocal Admiral Mike Mullen). If you believe for an instant that Obama didn't know that Joe Biden was going to make remarks about Gay Marriage, or that Arne Duncan was going to, or that then you've fallen for it hook line and sinker.

You call it safe timing? I call it good timing, both to rally the left, and to set an example.
