How To Use One Paper Towel #TED #Ecology #Portland

You use paper towels to dry your hands every day, but chances are, you're doing it wrong. In this enlightening and funny short talk at TEDxConcordiaUPortland, Joe Smith reveals the trick to perfect paper towel technique.

Shake! Fold!

Joe Smith served as a District Attorney in Umatilla County and nearly won a race for Oregon Attorney General without taking a single contribution over $99.99. He is a former chair of the Oregon Democratic Party and is active with several local nonprofits.

Paper towels and paper napkins are just bad habits, a bit like salting your food before you even taste it.
Once you break the habit, you really don't miss 'em.

They were having a demo at the store for Bamboo paper towels. You use them and through them in the washer instead of throwing them away. I tried one and it does work really well, and they dry out quickly. Haven't tried washing it in the laundry yet.

With these, one roll of paper towels could last a year or so.

It's amazing how well folding the thing in half does for absorption.
