(9,350 posts)How do these people not know about Martin Luther King? I understand that people have to work and cannot know about every bit of current events, but stuff like this is just ridiculous. Even if you are not aware of the year in which Martin Luther King was assassinated; how do you go through life thinking he is still alive? Do these people never watch the news? Do they never pick up a book or magazine? Do they never walk down the magazine aisle of their local grocery store? How can anyone be so uninformed?
I guess the good news is that there were only about three people interviewed. So, maybe we can assume everyone else knew the information they were being given was false.

(8,175 posts)Because it just shows how disconnected and insulated from reality so many people are today. It's really sad, not funny, but I can't help but laugh at some of the ridiculous responses.
I don't know if any of these uninformed citizens vote (I kinda hope not), but it makes you wonder if there shouldn't be some kind of class required, where people have to understand a little bit about what is happening before being given that right to vote.
And no, I'm not talking about they way they used to keep blacks from voting. I'm saying everyone should have to pass a minimal test, and if they can't then they are required to take a class to teach them about what is going on in politics today. It's just a thought. I'm sure it would never pass congress. They really don't want a lot of informed people voting.

(11,087 posts)I would have said, "I think Abraham Lincoln endorsing Bernie Sanders kind of cancels out King's endorsement of Trump. While we're on the subject of endorsements, I think Napoleon Bonaparte's endorsement of Trump may hurt him as much as help him."
