(21,758 posts)On Obama's Inauguration Day, they started obstructing him (I guess because he is black), and they want to keep it going til the next Inauguration Day.

(56,829 posts)do you think it would have been so different if Clinton had won the nomination and the presidency in 2008? Would they have suddenly been agreeable because it was her and not Obama? Somehow, I think we'd have been having the same conversation, and we'd be saying, "Republicans just hate Hillary because she's a woman."
Granted, they can hate both women and black men (and black women), but I think Republicans would have been almost the same to anybody with a (D) after their name. We'd just see Tea Party signs with the B or the C word instead of the N word on them.

(18,470 posts)....attempting to explain his decision. I got the distinct impression that he was reading from a prepared statement that someone - such as one of his staffers or someone from McConnell's office - shoved in front of him and told him to read. At this point I'm starting to wonder if he's still doing things on his own or is just doing what other people in the GOP are telling him to do.
Iowa really needs to get a hard, pipe hitting Democrat to run against this guy so we can get one Democrat from Iowa back in the Senate and so that Grassley can retire.
