Indiana Senate Candidate Paid Bro-In Law $170K For Campaign Work

Published on Apr 30, 2016
An Indiana Senate candidate paid his brother-in-law nearly $170,000 to manage the finances of his congressional campaign. The relative had worked as a car salesman and actor. He had no experience rounding up political donations. Marlin Stutzman, a tea party-backed Republican, has railed against out-of-control government spending.

He gave his relative an average of $5,000 a month from the campaign account for the nearly three years he served as finance director. That was about $800 a month higher than the salary paid to Gabe Rivera's successor. the successor raised about $400,000 more for the campaign in six fewer months.

During an interview Thursday with The Associated Press, Stutzman said of Rivera, the husband of his wife's sister, "I trust him more. I know him."

is a pant load and a self righteous sanctimonious dick. Unfortunately I live in the district he currently represents. I'm hoping he loses in the Senate primary, goes back to the family farm where he can resume "stump training" the sheep, and is never heard from again. His predecessor was similarly self righteous until he got busted diddling a staffer. Many in this area suspect that it was Stutzman who ratted him out.
