"To his credit, Sanders acknowledged that the program was “wasteful” in his defense of it. The contention over the F-35 in his home state of Vermont is that the program is now responsible for jobs in his hometown of Burlington, where he served as mayor before running for Congress. Some front doors of homes in the Burlington area are adorned with green ribbons, signifying support for the F-35. Sanders, like his colleagues in 45 states around the country, doesn’t want to risk the wrath of voters angry about job losses related to F-35 manufacturing, assembly, and training if the program were to be cut. And that’s where Lockheed Martin’s political savvy comes into play."

They build one peice of these things in every state. And assemble in another. He supports it because the people in his state working on the project beg him to do so, so they can keep their jobs. As do all the laborers at each plant, in each state.

It's a hostage situation, for larboers, and the senators that represent them, by our military and those who run the companies that order the creation of these weapons of war.

And no, they don't "build one piece of these things in every state," and no not every senator or congressman has defended the thing like Sanders has.

Yeah, I get why he supports it. He's a politician. He wants to stay in office. What I can't countenance is the holier than thou hypocrisy.

Every U.S. state but Alaska, Hawaii, Nebraska, and Wyoming has economic ties to the F-35, with 18 states counting on the project for $100 million or more in economic activity, according to primary contractor Lockheed Martin. All told, the project is supposedly responsible for 32,500 jobs in the U.S. Globally, another nine countries have major ties to the F-35.

Vermont: 3 supplier locations. The plane's bay doors and the GAU-22/A Gun system is produced in this state.

Sanders' bird isn't the dove of peace, but an F-35.
