(57,936 posts)When I walk up to a group of young people and just say the name, "Bernie," they all look at me with this spark in their eyes. The enthusiasm is something I have not seen in all my years of campaigning, and I campaigned for McGovern in 1972.
Anyone who says Sanders is just another politician needs to walk down a street, find some kids about college age and ask them about him. At least in California, you will find that these young people who are about to inherit the mess we are leaving them really love Bernie and look to him with hope. There is very little for them to hope for in the political world, but Bernie represents it.
I have to say that anyone with the cynical, jaded view that concludes that "Sanders is just another politician" needs to read his book, Outsider in the White House. Sanders is compellingly devoted to public service. He is definitely not jus another politician. He is a public servant and a good one. Read his book. We should all inform ourselves before giving opinions.
Spread the democracy, not the cynicism.
