(86 posts)Her new game plan appears to be that she is going to dump Bernie and the rest of us and in our place pick up all those republicans who won't vote for Donald Trump to replace us. It is, sadly, possible that it will give her enough voters to win the GE if she is the nominee. Actually, she could do better in the primaries that are still left if those same republicans will vote for her there. I would love to hear her supporters spin this. She has always been a Democrat in name only, yet here on DU we, supposedly, are only voting for people on the Democratic ticket. With this plan, she is being entirely true to herself and who she has always been. Seriously, anyone really surprised if this pans out?

(7,006 posts)So tired of this chick, so tired of her videos, so tired of her yelling fire in a crowded theatre and whatever else she's yelling.
She contacted our site FB page (will not name the page as we are not trying to cross-promote ourselves here) claiming that Bernie Sanders was "being cheated" out of the Michigan Primary - before the Primary was complete on Tuesday, March 8, 2016. Of course, being from Michigan we totally dismissed her claims (yelling, warning, think-she-knows or whatever else) because we knew what was happening on the ground -- as we live here.
As it turns out, Bernie won Michigan. The Primary was called at about 11:30ist pm ET that night and the rest is history. However, it has not stopped her from yelling or boasting "foreseeing" claims of grandeur, that she had no personal idea about from wherever her home base really is.
The moral of this story is, folks need to take things shouted on YouTube with a grain of salt, instead of automatically believing they are true. Like Niko House. Remember him? We exposed his YouTube based delusions of grandeur too.
However, as the saying goes: To Each, Their Own.

(5,954 posts)The calculation is actually very simple:
First, the GOP just nominated a f-ing crackpot, which puts all the 'centrists' and 'leaning right,' not to mention all the neo-liberals and foreign policy hawks who would normally vote Republican back in play. She has calculated that, by leaning right, she can scoop up enough of those people to offset the people she'll loose from the left. The fact that she's actively courting JEB BUSH funders is the most obvious (not to mention outrageous) example of this.
Second, the self-interest-voting left (ie-the working poor) have been essentially disenfranchised, and either can't get out to vote on election day (since it's not a National Holiday, but damned well should be) without loosing their jobs; or because they've been CAGED into gerrymandered districts.
Finally, the genuine movement progressives are mostly in the 18-30 age group, which is a demographic which is notoriously flakey when it comes to actually turning out to vote. They often turn out for Presidential elections, but rarely do in mid-terms. So, Clinton obviously feels she can write them off.
She is obviously going for a classic, Bill Clinton style 'third way' election victory, and hoping to win beck the Senate with the same kind of coalition, BLUE DOGS and all. (I wonder if Ben Nelson and Evan Bayh, and all of those other blue dog losers who screwed up the Affordable Care Act are still interested in running?)

(304 posts)Anyone beginning to think this whole election was a set-up from the very get-go? Considering that Bill Clinton encouraged Trump to run as a candidate, it does cause one to wonder if this situation was planned to "ensure" Clinton's election.... Trump/Clinton...either way we lose!

Killing voting rights
Killing civil rights
Killing (or gutting) Social Security and Medicare
Tax cuts for the rich, along with "borrow and spend" government growth
Reaching out to disaffected Republicans is a wise move, not a tack to hard right.
