Much better for the environment and easier for the traveler. We need to rethink our public transportation to cut down on cars and planes.

Thing is, after about 46 years ago - after we sent folks to the moon - we backed off from the forefront of technology. Not to say there hasn't been ANY progress, but we've relinquished our dominance in the last half decade. We're getting a HSR system here in Calif., but it's a battle for every inch of progress.

and I think Germany, and then there is a picture of one of our locomotives which looks antique compared to the others. I forget the caption, but saying we are #1 just doesn't cut it!
