(4,532 posts)Its not badass if your going to lie about how the whole thing went down the next morning on TV. Its not badass if your fighting hard against the greater good. It wasn't badass. Period.

(4,532 posts)The worst thing that happened to her was getting flipped off.

(15,232 posts)The whole attempt to paint Sanders and his followers as violent is ludicrous to the first order. Boxer in my opinion has no real convictions.

(57,936 posts)The first time someone called me that, I was flattered.
I am a rather small, friendly woman. I just thought it was funny that someone would call me that when I was already the age I was.
It's all in the eye of the beholder.
She was really awful. I used to be a very strong supporter of her. That speech in Nevada was insulting and intended to incite anger. Not very smart.
As a Californian, I am glad that Barbara Boxer is quitting. She clearly no longer has the calm control of herself that a senator needs to have.
She could so easily have chosen to calm the waters and soothe the tempers. She chose instead to anger and frustrate her listeners.
I'm a lifelong Democrat and am now very, very disappointed in my party.
I see it as an aging dinosaur that is refusing to change to meet the challenges of new times. Very sad. Very sad indeed.
I think that Trump may tromp Hillary on trade and jobs. I don't want to see that, but I think he will.
I am so proud to be able to vote for Bernie on June 7 here in California.
So are many of the other voters I talk to -- most of them in fact.

(5,141 posts)The fact that some are going right along with the bullshit is very telling as well. And I'm thinking back to all those self-same people who used to be in the habit of posting the picture of Bush flipping the bird as evidence of his base stupidity.

Heard some working class, (yesprobably white) men being interviewed by NPR this morningfrom Pennsylvania, about why they support Trump.
They didn't talk about Benghazi, didn't talk about Goldman Saks, What they talked about were the "trade deals" and the "loss of manufacturing that ain't coming back" and the lack of jobs. They could see the problem with their own eyes. And they knew very well who brought them the trade deals.
It is an abject failure on the part of of the Democrats that they have lost these people to the likes of Trumpwho is now viewed as more trustable and on their side than the Democrats.
The only reason they are making such a bad analyses of what is the solution to what ails them is because the DNC and the media blotted out coverage of Bernie's message.
Now, about them being whiteyes, there's no doubt a sizable streak of racism in why some of they support Trumpbut they did not talk about immigrants or any other group. They talked about the loss of jobs.
This represents another abject failure of the Democratic party as well, that white working class people and black working class people aren't united against a common enemythe oligarchy.
(Paraphrasing) So when you kiss-off Bernie's people, you're kissing off his message too, Barbara.

For those who really love that work, it's great. But when those are virtually the only options, we have a problem.
There is some work in construction.
Truck drivers are often treated very badly.
Factory jobs are very hard to find. Empty factors not so uncommon.
I cannot imagine how Hillary would respond to Trump on that issue. Trump will win hands down in a debate just on that issue.
Bernie could argue with Trump about it but the issue would not come up that much because they both understand that the trade agreements have hurt America.

(57,936 posts)Party made fools of themselves.
There was a lot of yelling, some fists in the air, and that was all. And when you think of the way the Nevada Democratic Party leadership treated the Bernie supporters, the anger is not at all out of place.
