Related: About this forumWhy Is The Establishment Smearing Bernie Sanders More Than Ever?
After a week of news about the chaos at the Nevada Democratic Convention, Van Jones offered something rare on CNN: the accurate honest truth. He pointed out the complete lack of evidence for violence from Bernie supporters and that in fact, the one arrest for violence was a Hillary supporter. Washington insider Paul Begala was among others on the panel.

And the media isn't "smearing" Sanders, they just not doing only pro-Sanders reports.

(45,251 posts)just lies of Hillary surrogates and supporters were thrown in Nevada, much like at DU, KOS and other message boards.

(45,251 posts)collective amnesia. Anti-Semitic posts, posts targeting DUers, like Cali, for a ban, posts plotting what to post here to attack Sanders. You're not losing it. You must remember, just as the rest of us do.
George II
(67,782 posts)....were asked a dozen times by several DUers what was said that was anti-Semitic, not one was responded to.
So, if you claim you remember, why not post specifically what those allegedly anti-Semitic comments were? There wasn't a single one.

(45,251 posts)hides for posting screen caps from that site, right, even though so doing violated no DU TOS. And now, her account has been "under review" for a long time. So, no thanks, George II.
George II
(67,782 posts).... Again, there were NO anti-Semitic comments made.
I won't even get into that other false stuff about another DUer, other than the mistaken notion that the DUer is "under review". That's false, and can be checked very easily here on DU by anyone. You should check before saying things that are incorrect. I won't post that profile here, but this is just one line from that profile: "Account status: Active".
PS - merrily, I see you've learned to include the screen name of the person you're responding to in your posts so you can cross-reference, index, and catalog your posts for future reference.
Now, merrily, you're on ignore.
merrily
(45,251 posts)Those are the only false claims involved in these exchanges.
No one at DU saw those chairs being thrown. Many at DU saw the screen caps. So, your claims they don't exist are not impressing many here.
As far as my using your name to reply so I can index, you could not be more wrong. I only wish I were that organized. However, if I did keep track of posts, so what? They are on the board, not private or personal--and you sure are pals with plenty of people who do that.
As far as being on ignore, I'll do my best to survive with your responses to my, but it's sure going to be rough.

(15,237 posts)The Democratic party does not want Bernie Sanders killing the golden goose now that it is in their grasp. On the other hand Democrats are scared shitless of what is coming after Hillary. Trump is right about one thing he will make deals largely without the strings Hillary requires from her base.

(22 posts)The question of violence during a very undemocratic Nevada convention is being used to distract from the actual violence of an anti-democratic U.S....violence exemplified in Clinton's stewardship of the State Department and vociferous support for her husband's assault on the working class. Hillary will be poisonous as president but likely for only one term...if she can defeat Trump, that is.

I think it's pretty interesting that all three "survivors" - HRC, Drumpf, and Sanders - look to be one termers. This year's VP choices are significant, and the 2020 race is going to be wild, even by this year's standards.

(22 posts)You're probably right...though the appearance of a third party would be welcome. There is already a structure in place, if in hiatus. The Labor Party could be revived if the AFL-CIO is convinced to back it once again, this time as a serious social-democratic entity rather than as a whip to beat the Democrats with. Of course, a socialist movement that ignites the imagination of young people could preempt even that, but that doesn't seem likely in the near term.
bluedigger
(17,086 posts)But I wouldn't be surprised for Bernie's followers, largely the Occupy movement. to finally form a party to the left of the Democratic Party. There's a lot of room there. And the opportunity for libertarians to move beyond the racism of the GOP is promising as well. Anything could happen on the right. Maybe we are seeing the end of the two party era in US politics finally begin.

I heard on a history program that Roosevelt wanted to tax the rich at 100% (the top rate). They settled on 93%. The Republicans asked why they should pay so much. Roosevelt said because if they don't pay he won't protect them.
We need another Roosevelt, not another Clinton.

(10,495 posts)There are plans to recruit House candidates that support Bernie's platform and will raise money nationwide to give these candidates the money they need to run without taking corporate money. They want to discredit Bernie to try to cut off the head of this movement!
Make sure to donate to this effort and help recruit good candidates known locally for their integrity. They are planning this for the next mid-term election. This can work and unseat establishment incumbents to reestablish Representative Democracy which we have lost to Big Donors!

http://www.democraticunderground.com/?com=view_post&forum=1017&pid=374446
REASON FOR ALERT
This post is disruptive, hurtful, rude, insensitive, over-the-top, or otherwise inappropriate.
ALERTER'S COMMENTS
Calling Bernie an asshole? Over the top.
You served on a randomly-selected Jury of DU members which reviewed this post. The review was completed at Fri May 20, 2016, 11:12 AM, and the Jury voted 3-4 to LEAVE IT.
Juror #1 voted to LEAVE IT ALONE
Explanation: This is the primary season, at least no one called him a c*, b*, or w* - none of which have been hidden when directed toward our nominee.
Juror #2 voted to HIDE IT
Explanation: This post can be characterized as both disruptive and over-the-top. It adds absolutely nothing to political discourse.
Juror #3 voted to LEAVE IT ALONE
Explanation: The poster did NOT call Bernie an asshole. His name doesn't appear in the post AND there's a question mark. Sanders followers really need to try and stop their attempts to censor people's posts just because that other poster isn't kowtowing to Sanders.
Juror #4 voted to HIDE IT
Explanation: Takes one??
Juror #5 voted to LEAVE IT ALONE
Explanation: I only read the GDP posts that I see in juries and I know this is mild by current standards
Juror #6 voted to LEAVE IT ALONE
Explanation: My understanding is that while calling a member of this community an a**hole would be inappropriate, calling a public figure that, while hurtful to his supporters, is fair game. In general I tend to lean towards not wanting to be the word police.
Juror #7 voted to HIDE IT
Explanation: If name-calling's all you have, you have no argument. Hide this.

(1,166 posts)Because a) the establishment doesn't want Sanders showing up to the convention with any more pledged delegates than he already has; b) because maybe if the establishment can make enough smears stick before June 7th, he'll just drop out which is what would be best for the establishment; c) because the establishment thinks a demonstration of what will happen to candidates who dare call attention to government corruption and corporate power will prevent future like candidates from ever daring to attempt that again; and d) because the Democratic party establishment has taken a page from Karl Rove's book? Whatever the case, the uglier the smears, the more desperate the establishment looks and the more damage they do to party loyalty.

A movement of economic populism and all the buzz it creates gives the establishment the heebee-jeebies....we all know that. It's that the movement was to be quelled enough to allow technocrat-speak to dominate so that they can return to their regularly scheduled horse-race contest over bullshit issues. It has not happened.
Hence, the rancor among the plutocrats....and their toadies.

She had finally found a way to best her rival, the excluded girl. I wanted to give some advice, but I held my tongue because some lessons are best learned through experience.
A few days later, I asked her how her club was doing. She looked very sad. The girl she had excluded had formed a club that excluded my daughter.
So much for excluding your rivals.
Debbie Wasserman Schultz and Hillary are making an enormous mistake.
What they are not understanding is that the central issue in the Bernie campaign is the corruption.
They are handling their differences with Bernie and his supporters so as to HIGHLIGHT their own corruption, their own in-crowd mentality.
Jimmy Dorr says it so well. This is a great video. I hope that the leadership in the Democratic Party watches it because they don't know how close they are to splitting the Party and losing in November.
