May 31, 2008 The Democratic National Committee's Rules and Bylaws Committee decides to give only half-votes to delegates from Michigan and Florida. Both states held unsanctioned primaries, which Clinton won. The move dashes Clinton's hope that a rule change would help her close the delegate gap with Obama

The tight primary fight between Obama and Clinton is the reason why this has become a radioactive issue. Despite public statements to the contrary last year and now that Obama is on the verge of clinching the Democratic presidential nomination, Clinton has insisted on counting the beauty contest votes as legitimate and seating the delegations according to those votes.
While claiming to speak for the disenfranchised voters in Florida and Michigan and while counting these votes into her overall popular vote total to make the case for her nomination Clinton often fails to note the obvious: These major rule changes as the contest nears the end would benefit her and her alone.

(5,668 posts)I have a long memory mostly in politics which I'm partially getting too old for this back and forth Dem on Dem attacks. Mostly coming from one side and I won't say which but some of us know. certainly someone flipping the other side the bird the other night didn't help matters any.
were things reversed she'd be crying foul.

(6,045 posts)I've donated multiple times & voted for him in Georgia...I think it is getting time for my fellow Bernie supporters to do what the Hillary supporters had to to do in 2008 & that is admit defeat in system you knew existed when you got in it! Otherwise, PRESIDENT TRUMP & all the gains we have made under President Obama will have been wasted!

(5,621 posts)If the primary had been fair, there would be no backlash, except by a few, but, no one likes to be the one lied to and cheated on.
The Democratic Party put up a VERY flawed candidate, who have made more enemies than friends and now a new movie is coming out on the Clinton Foundation which is going to make matters even worse. It's been shown in Cannes already and apparently is quite damning, so far no one has come forward to say that the movie is filled with lies.

Anyone who says he should withdraw is not a supporter of his. Anything can be said on the Internet, and we know people lie.

Thanks for the post. I hope he stays in until the end. Who knows what will happen?

(12,471 posts)After she lied about Nancy and Ronnie Raygun having such a positive impact on the AIDS epidemic, she lost me forever.
You see, my brother died early on in the epidemic, due to the fact that there was no early research on AIDS. It was dubbed, "a gay cancer," and ridiculed by Raygun and his flunkies, including his wife. Had there been this early research, my brother might be alive today.
When Hilliary lied about Nancy's role in this, it was the end of any support from her that she could get ever. Blood is thicker than politics.

This story appears in the October 19, 2015 issue of Forbes
Since Bill and Hillary Clinton left the White House in 2001, they have earned more than $230 million. But in federal filings the Clintons claim they are worth somewhere between $11 million and $53 million. After layering years of disclosures on top of annual tax returns, Forbes estimates their combined net worth at $45 million. Where did all of the money go? No one seems to know, and the Clintons arent offering any answers.
From 2001 to 2014 the power couple spent $95 million on taxes. Hillarys 2008 presidential run cost her $13 million. Their two homes cost a combined $5 million, and the Clintons have given away $22 million to charity. All of this is according to FEC filings, property records and years of tax returns. Add it up and you get $135 million. If the Clintons made $230 million, spent $135 million and have just $45 million left over, what happened to the other $50 million?
Thats kind of strange, says Joe Bidens accountant, Walter Deyhle. You have to report all of your assets. You have to report assets that are owned by your spouse.
It seems unlikely that the Clintons could have spent all of it. Over 14 years $50 million averages out to $3.6 million in extra expenses per year, or $9,800 per day.

(20,453 posts)The fact that Super-delegates, OR Winner Take All in the parties have changed the electoral processes over time should tell American voters something... Because of each party's outcome, the PARTIES tweaked the process!
Let us have fair elections. Let us learn from and take the best of a FAIR process. Winners will be more democratically elected.
