The tipping point was probably in the mid-1980s when we began understanding the impact we were having on our climate and how it takes about 30 years for carbon to show up in Earth's weather, i.e. we're living the results today of 1980's carbon emissions.

We know human carbon output has only accelerated since then, when the human population was 50% lower than it is today. Which means that the 2020s & 2030s will make today's record hot climate seem frigid by comparison.

But it's never too late to realize that. We just can't do anything about it now. That train's left the station.
