(10,494 posts)corporation and Ken Starr was the attorney representing Meineke Corporate and their parent company GKN (British company) on the appeal. When he walked in the all Republican 3 judge appellate panel fawned all over him. His opening remarks were, "While I cannot condone what my client did (they stole us blind), the Class was improperly grouped... They threw out our judgement only because of this asshole hero to the right.
I hope he gets sued for everything he has over this!

(907 posts)This has been going on for decades at other universities as well, and it will undoubtedly continue to go on and on and on for many more. Pity the future victims.
Although there are individuals who speak out against these scandals, there isn't a mass movement to reform the rape culture that is and has been associated with football. The prospects of future reform seem to be hopeless. Just the inevitability of more of the same sort of corruption.

(907 posts)We live in a society in which boys who have no interest in sports are likely to be marginalized or even bullied while so many people (including some liberals!) are in complete denial about the rape culture that is associated with football and other extremely popular school sports. Apparently, it's just too much to expect most sports fans and boosters to ever treat school athletes as human beings instead of objects of worship.
