Senator Kennedy voted for the Gulf of Tonkin Resolution, supported the Vietnam War before he opposed it, approved as Attorney General the bugging of Rev. King, was a red-baiter in league with other red-baiters in the 1950s, was widely considered "the ruthless" Kennedy, was most definitely a member of the 1%, and the member of a political dynasty to boot.

Still, RFK was a great man who would have made a great president, and his presidency would have, IMHO, solidified and furthered all the social and political gains made during the 1960s. Yes, he was a flawed and fallible man, as were his brothers. But in the last days of his life he became a true champion of the downtrodden, a man unafraid to face and speak the truth.

BTW, I can't open the link, but I think I'm familiar with the speech about to be referenced.

And this was one of the most tragic losses in our history.
