And So It Begins...

Saw this ad on Faux Noise today, and can't decide whether it's a genuine attack ad designed to paint Hillary as dishonest, or a faux attack ad designed to raise sympathy for Hillary. Given that it was on Fox News, and the Fox News audience is conditioned to salivate like Pavlovian dogs over this kind of stuff, I'd say it's probably a genuine attack ad. Not likely to see this one on other networks...

they cost little to produce, probably have almost-no network buys, but generate free ad-time by being talked about on prime time & other shows on FoxNews, Sunday panels, and Morning Joe-type formats, and I'm guessing the more outrageous ones are on the way.

The weirder they are, the more attention they get.

I'm sure they've only just begun.

remember this crapstorm smoking-ad from Herman Cain? Got talked about everywhere because it was nutty coo-coo. (skip 30 seconds in)

So, it was a legitimate network ad buy. ($$$)

But yeah, I agree, making cheap youtube attack ads that then 'mysteriously' transit into discussion segments on the regular networks is a clever way for a campaign to punch above its weight.

They have already started.
BTW- I am more cheerfully excited with the attacks against Drumpf!

I don't like either one of them. To me, they are equal.

that our country has stooped so low.
I am working on getting my EU passport, and become a dual citizen. I have plans to move to Utrecht in the Netherlands come 2018. I am retiring in a year, and it will take a year to sell all my crap here, then move there.
Then I can be done with all the crap here, maybe.

Or if, as an atheist, you don't believe in luck, "may the random patterns you encounter in life be predominantly of the pleasant varriety."

It's slimy to bring Bill's indiscretions into the conversation.

And when Hillary says she did not send or receive material marked or designated classified (presumably she was talking about her private e-mail and server, but the clip cuts that part out), she is telling the truth technically -- but she did send and receive information that was indeed classified (including 22 messages containing top secret information), even if it was not marked as such, and part of her job as secretary of state was to recognize classified material that had not been through the system to be designated classified. See http://thompsontimeline.com/The_Clinton_Email_Scandal_-_Long_Version_-_Part_1 , the entry for January 21, 2009 - February 1, 2013 (second entry for that date).

"Marked or designated" is weak defense. We need a better response than to point out how slimy this ad is.

Meanwhile big trade agreements will be passed by the Republicans and Democrats while the public waits breathlessly for the next tidbit of scandal.

Good luck with running 1994-era attack ads.
