(36,063 posts)quickly he did so well. What he thought was a sleeping giant was really awake and waiting for an alternative to support.
It remains to be seen if that support was mostly a short term campaign for an any-body-but-a-Clinton or an honest to goodness progressive left prepared to struggle against the happy-to-serve-oligarchs neoliberal party establishment.
It's interesting how quickly it was apparent that there was not much middling support to occupy between HRC and Sanders. OMalley as a compromise between them should have done much better if people were into compromise. That suggests the party across 2015-2016 was polarized.
Time will tell if it remains that way.
