Obama will arguably be seen by historians as a very good, if not great, president. But the right wing propaganda machine has brainwashed millions to only see negative about him and about his actions as our president.
It makes me want to puke.

And I'm sitting there saying, "Fuck! Who are these people to even say that under the guise of news???"
We need the Fairness Doctrine back so we can get rid of the hatemongers.

(41,127 posts)Deregulation by Reagan and Clinton's 1996 Telecom Act lifted rule limits on media ownership to where the US has 5 giant consolidated media conglomerates now that own 90% of all news- newspapers, magazines, television and radio stations, and 1,200 RW Hate Radio stations dominate the airwaves. This has to end because it's definitely increasing the hate, violence and decline of this country and fueling the ignorance and idiocy of citizens.
Media Giants: Viacom (CBS), Disney (ABC), Comcast (NBC/MSNBC, prior GE-owned), Time Warner (CNN), News-Corp/Murdoch (FOX)

(36,023 posts)That's at the heart of why Republicans don't use the language that would identify them as such.
The body of law that Michelle Alexander examines in The New Jim Crow proves that US courts have systematically built the legal precedents to enable the racism to go through institutional systems unchallenged. From state to SCOTUS, they have ruled that
NO data collection can prove racist intent
NO profile biases over time can prove racist intent
NO stop and frisk can prove racist intent
Only, in each case, if the authorized entity uses racial slurs and hate speech, can a case can be filed for the denial of another's civil rights. But even hate speech is protected, unless accompanied by the threat of force.
Not all Republicans are racist. Those who are not are often ganged up on and silenced by those who are.
Racism is a belief. It's not a crime. It's acting on racism that determines any denial of rights.
