It is a fine balancing act, and I, as a Bernie supporter, appreciate that he and Earl and others have allowed free discussion during the primary, even allowing for overstepping on occasion in the heat of the battle.

I just think he is making one big mistake, and that result may not be pretty. And that is to clamp down on critical discussion on Hillary's platform vs Bernie's revolution NOW instead of waiting until the nominee is officially declared at the convention.

IF Bernie had thrown in the towel, shook Hillary's hand, walked away and conceded, and said he had talked to Hillary and was satisfied that she was listening to ALL the democrats, not just those that wanted her. And that he was officially leaving the race, then I can see the logic of halting any comparisons between the two.

But he hasn't done that yet. There is still plenty of debating left to do as Bernie goes forward and pushes for as much of his 99% platform he can until the convention.

Its too bad it sounds like DU will cut off any and all discussion on that. Meanwhile many other Democrats will still be debating elsewhere, and on other sites, right up until the convention, and during the convention. Its probably the most important discussions we can have in modern Democratic party history. Whether the party embraces the FDR progressive future for all Americans, or whether we become the new Republican party, as the GOP slide painfully off the cliff to extremism. And we here on DU will be missing out. I always was impressed with Skinner and DU as a place to freely discuss anything as long as it wasn't promoting Republicans.

I'm still unclear about what will be allowed and what won't. I just hope there is not a sudden harsh right turn on here. This has been my oasis since 2003 and the GW Bush nightmare. I just hope I survive on here in the coming month.

Which is why I am scratching my head about this article: https://www.yahoo.com/news/hillary-clinton-invokes-unlikely-allies-000000292.html

I detest Trump and hope he slithers away like the serpent he is. Bernie is my man! Hillary, though......

I'm trying to like her, I really am but it's hard. It's stuff like that article that drives me nuts. If the ends justify the means and Hillary wins the GE, then I guess we should be happy that Trump lost but at what cost? I hope this won't be a Faustian victory for the progressive movement.

but we will support Local Democrats 99 % of the time except when they get a bit red. And in local races, not at the state level . That gets blurred. Oddly enough the Mayor we did support was supposedly R but our Democratic and very hated Mayor of nearly 40 yrs (I'm 40) got voted out for another Dem and now he's locked 90 % of the doors in City Hall O_O uh.... thats not good.

of things we deem important. Dissent and debate is vital to the future of the Democratic party. Because I'll tell you this: I will NOT get 'in line' with Third Way policies any more. I don't want TPP. I want the party to work actively toward single payer, strengthening Social Security, regulating the hell out of the banks, free tuition at community colleges...basically Bernie's and Senator Warren's ideas.

I guess I'm a Berned Warrenist. Or a Warrened Burniest.

Something like that...

My take on them is that they counteract the "I've seen worse be allowed to stand" syndrome that's steadily eroded civility here.

The debate can continue, but outright open attacks won't fly. And that applies as much to posts that treat Bernie supporters like stuff to be scraped off a shoe as it does to "Hillary will be the end of everything" posts.

trying to take demands that there be some massive Purge from DU which frankly he knows would be severely counterproductive. I know he's taken some shit from me more over the conversion from DU2 to DU3 I got better but it had more to do with pay $$$ and never be asked for $$$ again. then DU3 came and they were asking for $$$ again.
