...unspoiled, peaceful, harmonious, natural and idilic. In the early 1970's a tribe like the was found—they had no word for war and were, yes, totally primitive and natural. Lindbergh was ecstatic and spent time with them. They were exactly as advertised, everything he could have wanted. But, ironically, he came away from his encounter observing, with disappointment, that the tribe had no ambitions, no curiosity, no drive to discover anything or change anything. No wish to do, learn or be more than what they were.

That's when he realized that the Eden he was looking for would be, for an explorer and adventurous and insatiably curious soul like him hellish rather than heavenly The lesson being, be careful what you wish for, you might get it...and find it wanting. The dream is almost always better than the reality in such instances.

They've been successful for 60 thousand years. Good for them. I doubt industrial civilization will last even a tiny fraction of that.

There's nothing we have to give them that would be worth the price they'd end up paying for it.
