Wallace asks him at the very beginning about Comey sending that letter now, "Why do you think he would do that"?

Instead of saying, "I don't know...but there's no proof that...blah blah blah"..He could have spoke right there that it was clearly an attempt by the GOP to mislead voters in the final days of the election using Comey to do it. That's how any old white bread Republican would react, if put in a similar situation, he wouldn't have to be a Trumpster. And they do that with fake made up shit, we can't even be bold enough to call a rig a rig when it actually is.

It would have put the reporter on the defensive. Just like rightwingnuts do to more liberal hosts. Fluster them and steer the conversation where they want it to go simply because the host isn't even expecting such brashness. Instead Wallace expertly steers him into a defensive position.

This is the campaign head for Clinton, so he's supposed to be in campaign mode, so they can get away with being a little harsh on the replies in trying to spin things the way we believe they SHOULD be seen. He should have said what you stated, instead, he was defensive the whole time! GRRRRRRR!
