1. Joe is still gorgious, but beyond that...

he's proven to be a truly good man; too much so to have the killer instinct to become POTUS.: maybe due to the fact that he's lived through more than his share of human tragedy. Winning election as U.S. President is easier for those with the killer instinct than actually functioning as an effective leader for the nation as a whole. As a political junkie, I first became aware of Biden several decades ago, and was duly impressed. When he became V.P., I was amazed at how the Republicans, aided by the press, made him into a clown. I suspect a Republican strategy was to defuse any threat from him. In more recent years he's suddenly a revered statesman: too bad he's now a bit too old to become a first-term president (by U.S.A. standards, if not necessarily in Europe).

2. I think the right and the media

started portraying Joe as a "gaffe machine" because republicans never wanted to run against him. If Joe had run 2004 as party leaders wanted, we probably would have taken back the White House. I think he missed his best opportunity then, though if he'd run this time around, there is a good chance he would have gotten the nomination.

I love the photos and find it amazing that Joe just gets better looking with age!
