WHOA!- Spitzer TAKES ON Bartiromo in Japanese Monster-Movie Epic

Holy Craps! Go Spitzer!




I advise everyone to check out the Godzilla-v.-Mothra death-battle between Spitzer and Maria Bartiromo from last Friday on her show on CNBC. Maria's always been a little nuts, but this latest crusade to rewrite history and cleanse ex-AIG chief Hank Greenberg of culpability in a fraud scandal that at the time led to the biggest financial settlement ever paid is an absolute head-scratcher.



The confrontation between the two of them on air is epic. In it, Bartiromo blasts Spitzer for going after Greenberg and accuses him of only targeting Greenberg for personal reasons. Spitzer counters by asking her if she's read a judge's opinion ruling that Greenberg had participated in a conspiracy to defraud. “Have you read this opinion?” he asks. She hedges, pauses, and here's the funny part: clearly she hasn't read it.



Spitzer asks her again, have you read the opinion? This time she decides to go all in, and immediately says she has read it. "I've read much more than I want to read on this case!" she shouts. Spitzer then gets so hot that he appears to have a prosecutorial flashback on live TV, saying: "You are under oath right now. I'm going to be very serious with you!" He again demands that she answer the question: was it not true that a judge ruled that Greenberg had committed fraud?



Humorously, Bartiromo explodes here and then retreats into the unfamiliar/uncomfortable territory of the truth: "I'm not under oath and I am not in your courtroom! You are on my television show!"

greenberg is one of the biggest crooks whose company almost destroyed the whole economy

That he gets white glove treatment from the shrills only goes to show how screwed up things still are

She is such a joke - and she obviously doesn't care how foolish, incompetent, and biased she is.

Elliot Spitzer is one of the sharpest people in journalism today, and he cleaned Maria's clock GOOD!!

for Greenburg. Maria totally ignored the some $180 billion required to bail out AIG. Her attack on Spitzer was the most unprofessional, literally oozing with vitriolic harangue, I've ever witnessed.

Did you notice how she cracked a smile when Spitzer said she had to stick to facts "even by cable standards"?

Spitzer asks, "did you read this opinion?", which takes her off-guard so she smiles a little and pauses, calculating whether she can get away with lying, she concludes she can, so she says "what was the question?" He asks again and suddenly she can hear so she answers fiirmly Yes of course I've read it!

9. Is fraud just so common, so normal, so acceptable to the managers and board members of American

corporations that they can't even recognize it when they see it?

I wonder whether business schools are capable of teaching the analytical skills needed to managers. Maybe businessmen need more legal education than they are getting.

Especially on Wall Street and throughout the financial sector, the leadership just doesn't seem to understand how to recognize or prevent fraud. I'm beginning to think that this crisis may actually have to do with ignorance. What kind of legal advice are these characters getting? I wonder whether Bartiromo spoke to a lawyer about this case before giving her uneducated opinion on her show.
