First, he ignores, and the Moderator interrupted, Rye, when she spoke of 51 lies in 60 minutes. THAT should have been the focus. Not the ability of Trump to read something and sound somewhat believable when he reads his scripted lines.

And the bar has been set so low that Trump is more likely to trip over the bar than anything else.

The corporate media is desperate to find something Presidential about Trump, so even a lie filled speech is praised as long as Trump does not grab a woman or kill someone on 5th Avenue.

I finally get what he means, although I feel he came up with that as a defense during this interview, but anyway, here is my humble opinion.

For the most part, specially republicans, don't check facts, they don't realize the man is lying, that all those bullet points he is throwing out there are fiction, but instead they see a "different" man, one who has lifted the bar from 10 feet below ground to 9.5 feet below ground, he still is the piece of cr&*p that he is, and he is still backed by the evil team, but because most don't understand the facts or his speech and see a more subdued and "civilized" person (see bar levels), they eat it up and easily, due to population's ignorance, his numbers are up.

Most of what he said is going to hurt everyone, but like the day during one of his rallies he said "he loved his under educated" and they all clapped, well...there you go...

The point Jones made today is that, even if those who pay attention know the truth, the Democrats have to react to Trump moving the goal post, and being objective I think you can see that with very little he did move the post, that is the danger Jones talks about because it doesn't take much to fool the people, we saw that November 8th.

But if 70 years of his previous behavior is any guide, he will soon revert to type.

All Donald Trump did in his speech before Congress was put lipstick on a pig. Most people realize, as the quote says, you can put lipstick on a pig, but it is still a pig. Sadly, we are learning that some people can be fooled into believing that the pig has now been transformed into Cindy Crawford. Van Jones is, surprisingly, one of the people who now believes that Donald Trump's pet pig is Cindy Crawford.

Yes, Trump's tone changed for one speech. Maybe he will continue to use that tone. That tone does not change his policies, or the affect his policies will have on this country. Democrats do not need to focus on Trump's tone; they need to continue to focus on his policies and the damage they will do to this country.

12. Never Just About Tone
Thu Mar 2, 2017, 10:27 AM
Mar 2017

The Democratic criticism for Donald Trump was never just about his tone. Democrats claimed that his tone made his bad policies worse. His temperament was a problems because this is the man that will have control of the nuclear arsenal. Can a man who can be thrown into a fit by a tweet, or a comedy sketch be allowed to make a decision regarding dropping a bomb that could destroy an entire nation?

However, the main criticism of Donald Trump from Democrats was that his policies, which were the policies of the Republican Party were bad for this country. Democrats and Hillary Clinton were always able to point to the damage that would be done to this country by Trump's tax plan and how many people would be hurt if he were able to repeal and replace the Affordable Care Act.

Trump's change in tone does nothing to hurt the Democratic Party's ability to attack him and his policies. Trump keeping up this tone will only allow Democrats to focus more on his policies and the damage his policies will do to this country.
