The fact is that were it not for members of the HFC opposing passage of the AHCA because it doesn't hurt people enough, this bill would have passed the house today. All those Rs she showed getting yelled at at townhalls are voting for the AHCA. The human interest stories they heard from their constituents had zero effect in them.

OTOH, my senator Lisa Murkowski has come out strongly and vocally against it. She touted Medicaid and Planned Parenthood for their benefits to Alaskans.

I'm not ready to vote for her, but if she keeps this up she'll get a Christmas card.

This is a little off topic, but I wanted to share some good news.

were likely to peel off support from people in the center (in districts that went for Hillary or were very close) -- who've been feeling a lot of pressure from their constituents.

It's the radical RWers who aren't supporting it. That's why all the concessions being made are radical in nature.

7. I've heard many reports that that's what's been happening. They are feeling pressure from both ends.

The numbers are larger on the right, but they're hearing from the center also -- and being warned. Like the Senator from NJ, chairman of the Appropriations Committee, who just announced his opposition.

5. That's true, but only because those hard-right wingers think they're safe.

We need people to go to the polls in 2018 and start voting the right-wing out of office. Until that happens the Republicans will continue to behave like dictators.
