Nixon and N. Vietnam in 1968. Reagan and Iran in 1980. It's part of their playbook.

He should have been tried for it...instead he became president...

Reagan and the hostage situation is another fine example of Republicans inversely putting country before party...

......we can call when we get bored or down and just talk and have Dirksen's 'yeah' break in every ten seconds?

Sounds so therapeutic.

He was a big Texan and quite the bully when it came to getting things done like Medicare (thank you LBJ). Dirksen was an pretty old when that call was made, would be dead in a little over a year. Was an era when republicans weren't afraid to cross the aisle & he seemed to be a good egg, often voting for what was right, not for payouts from billionaires.

Yes to Trump and Repugs, colluding with the enemy to get elected is now a Republican tradition; certainly, based on Nixon and Reagan both winning (and their treason going largely unknown to the public and never prosecuted),Trump and the Repugs considered colluding with the enemy a treason for which they'll never be charged and even an acceptable and consequence free tactic to win.

I always thought it was terrible that LBJ before bowing out in 1967 and Humphrey pre election did not announce Nixon/Kissinger's treason; the MSM to this day remains pretty much silent, certainly were crickets in 1968. . Most Americans still don't know the profound evil of Nixon/Kissinger and associate Nixon's crimes only with the superficials surrounding Watergate and its coverup.

During the Carter reelection and Hostage negotiations, Reagan's collusion with the Enemy also went undeclared by Carter and unreported by the MSM (tho for this one I do remember faint rumblings from the WH and the MSM) Reagan also went uncharged and unprosecuted and remains St Ronnie to this day to the Repugs.

The Repugs will do anything, anything to win an election. Flat Out Historical Fact.

This is what happens when those we trust let it slide and what a mess it's been since.
