How many forms of insanity are just examples of selective perception? I had a chat with a forensic psychologist once about that. He was responsible for deciding if pleas of "insanity" were admissible in court. Every state's laws are different on what will fly in that category.

At what point does misunderstanding, misinterpretation, or wishful thinking leave the bounds of sanity, if "sanity" is defined as being roughly congruent to consensus reality? And how does that vary with the nature of the "consensus reality" in which one lives?

All comes out in the wash, anyway. Still horrifying, especially when they act on their perceptions.

Pretty hard line to define. You have good questions there.

BTW, I agree on the third choice, especially if it's an IPA.
