Although unless one buys the whole "original sin" shtick, it's hard to see what crime a newborn infant committed.
It has long been my fantasy to have some way to cram all these scum into their own private prison dimension and let them feed off each other. I admit it hadn't occurred to me that maybe they already were.

(17,276 posts)It's all "you get what you deserve in life". May be true in some cases, but there are innocents--innocently sick, innocently victims of crime, innocently born in the U.S. to undocumented parents, etc etc. And these creeps make no allowances for them. Just because life has been easy for them-- they think it could be easy for everyone else.

When you find out the answer to your question, let me know.
And I was in a car accident that needed to be covered by my healthcare plan.
Did I bring that upon myself with my choice to drive a car, as a woman?

(9,287 posts)When I was 12. He was just in his twenties. The chemo he was given was crude. It literally burned his flesh. He received massive doses of radiation. This experience altered my life and my parents lives in ways I can't describe. His death taught me the fragility of life and the absolute compassion for the sick and ill, regardless of "done the right way".
I am sure many of you have seen similar experiences or a lot worse. It is quite a feat to demonize the sick. But I guess Rep Brooks feels he and his are immune from cancer and sickness. Although maybe a heartless ghoul possesses no humanity.

(11,085 posts)As in, "If God afflicts you with sickness, you must have done something to deserve it." In which case every Republican would have some really painful illness. But apparently God doesn't visit sickness just on the wicked.

(2,957 posts)I wish the Dems would put out a response to this stuff every time it happens...on their web site, faxes to every newspaper, radio and TV outlet in the US, YouTube video.
This stuff needs relentless response every time it happens.
Republicans are insensitive, heartless assholes. Period.

(1,151 posts)I mean, I know they all think and say this shit regularly. But tweeting it in direct response to a father who just shared a HARROWING story about the birth of his son...I just can't even. I hope the asshole never has to face the loss of his child, but if he does, I hope his heartless words ring in his head. It does seem like the only time Republicans ever have an ounce of compassion is when something happens to themselves or their kids.

(100,068 posts)I'm a huge Kimmel fan and it's disheartening to see him go through this, but it's good that it has a positive outcome, and shows why people need healthcare, and why people need to be able to afford better quality healthcare. I hope Jimmy can get the message out that this sort of thing is needed. Our asshole representatives need some schooling in this matter.
