2. Just makes you sick, doesn't it?

I was a Bernie supporter, but I got it. I did not understand how liberal/progressive folks who weren't all that fond of Hillary did not recognize the danger
of putting Trump in office. I still don't understand it.

It makes me sick.

3. I'm not a Hillary fan either, but I'm like you, this election was not the time for a protest vote.

The whole I didn't get my way so I'm going to take my ball and go home is a sure way to make sure the Relublicans stay in power. That being said, I also refuse to not express my views because "unity!" Having sober, non-emotional discussions on our differences makes us a stronger party, not a weaker one.

4. Makes me fear the next election when the same thing could happen, probably will.

I'm pessimistic. It makes me sick too.

13. I pray the damage will be able to be reversed by 2018.

I can't argue with Bill on this one.

7. I agree with you 100%.

I would have preferred Bernie, but once he was gone, my loyalty changed to Hillary. However, I do know several people (two of them in my own family) who were initially with Bernie but, once he was out, would have died before voting for Hillary. My sister-in-law used to vote Republican, but she doesn't like how extreme they are now. Plus, the environment and human rights are important to her. She wrote in Bernie's name on the ballot. I think she's sorry now that she didn't vote for Hillary.
On the other hand, my sister quickly switched from Bernie to Trump. She listens to talk radio in her car and watches Fox News. She's not a deep thinker. I hate to say it but she's a Deplorable, she's beyond gone and still loves Trump. She told me after he was elected that she thinks he will be our greatest president ever.

8. Two party system

The presidential election is not the time for a "protest" vote. I learned this the hard way when I voted for Nader. Like it or not we are a two party system and one or the other will be president. If we choose to either not vote at all or check the box for a third party we indirectly vote. It was after my Nader vote that I concluded that the way to change the system and get a candidate that I liked was to get involved in the local Democratic party. I did and ended up being an Obama delegate to the Vermont State convention. We need to strengthen the Democratic grass roots.

12. Vote with your heart in the primaries but...

Vote with your head in the general!

17. Yes--I believe the primary is the time to fight for what this party is

But once that's over and the choice is something like what we just had, it was an easy choice to vote for Clinton.

I am horrified that Trump won. I get why some people didn't show up. But look at what we have now. None of them could have wanted this disaster. We are only punishing ourselves. He is already the worst president in history, 100 days in. Some of the damage he does will never be undone.

I was as big a Bernie supporter as you'll find--but like Bernie--I voted for Clinton.
