(5,932 posts)but I was mostly moving around the country at the time and starting a family. This documentary has details that I was not aware of. Very complete and very compelling. I'm halfway through (but I previewed the last half hour, 'cause that's the best part), and I'm reminded often of Trump and his shit.
This should have more recs, elleng. Thanks for posting!

(5,932 posts)For pointed relevance to President Trump (if he indeed records his conversations), begin at about 2:28:00. Watergate was different from what we see in Trump, but that episode in presidential corruption provides many lessons for us.
Richard Nixon was abhorrent. He was a cheap thug in so many ways. Still, some of his policies were useful. Donald Trump, on the other hand, is a cheap thug with no redeeming qualities.

(4,897 posts)The BBC documentary on Watergate is about 2 1/2 hours, but its well worth the time investment. Even if you were alive and paying attention back then, the historical review plus the commentary from such notable players as John Dean, H.R. Halderman, Eliott Richardson, etc., make this a must watch given current events.
