Must watch Joy and O'Donnell from earlier today: why Rs keep backing Trump; turned on Nixon- why?

Great discussion between Joy and Lawrence about difference between Congress now and during Nixon's time and why Rs continue to back Trump. Other good stuff too. One reason O'Donnell is so good is because of his background in politics. He knows it from the inside.

There was none, before Jimmy Carter won. @ 11:40 mins.

Not good to be 'leader,' because becomes target; hence, possibles are playing it smart. (Harris, Warren.) Shape of Dem party is 'right.'

(The above from Lawrence. We NEED him!)

5. I just watched the 1994 CBS special of Watergate. Many Repub would've forgiven him.

They said that if Nixon had just admitted his guilt, apologized and was sincere they could've moved on and maybe saved the presidency. Instead his paranoia, obsession with power and lack of respect for our country and constitution destroyed him and he lost his his party. I don't think the Repub party today has the same mentality. They are individually as self absorbed as the Donald is.

7. McCain pointed out that Reagan was forgiven after Iran-Contra because ....

Because Reagan fired Oliver North and some others, and then made a speech apologizing, saying he won't make the mistake again, that he'd made a mistake, etc.

Nixon was just the opposite, with the coverup and all. He went down saying "I am not a crook." And "If the President does it, it's not illegal." (Who does that sound like? Hmmm...let me think.)

6. Tax Cuts. Once that's done, they'll cut him loose, if he's in trouble legally. He's a pariah.

Unless his favorability rating skyrockets, in which case they won't turn on him.

---First, money. LOTS of money.
---Second, votes from constituents.
