NRA never came to this gun owners defense. He had no White Priviilege Card. (Graphic Content)
He was reaching for his wallet; exactly as he was instructed to do by the Officer
All on account of one bad tail light bulb

(28,774 posts)i felt as if i owed it to Philando to watch this. I can clearly hear him saying, NO WAY am I reaching for my gun and then the fucking cop just opens up on him.
it wasn't because of a light bulb; it was because of institutionalized racism and a clear message to police that they can murder at will. i know we can do and be so much better than this but despair that we ever will. apparently not in my lifetime.

(1,462 posts)Less than 2 minutes from the beginning of the stop a man is dead for having a blown tail light. Incontrovertible video proof of a brutal assault and murder yet the cop walks free.
This is one of the reasons I have so little faith that Trump and repukes will be held accountable for lying, cheating, and criminal acts against America. This shit always ends the same. The bad guys walk away free and even rich in most cases of repubes. W and Cheney walked, countless cops perform sanctioned cold blooded murder on camera and walk, no reason to believe that Trump and company will be any different. We never learn, just keep turning the other cheek. We will never stop this criminal behavior by playing nice. So hopeless.

The mantle of authority - nor matter how it is bestowed - comes with an almost impenetrable aura of 'can do no wrong' associated with it.
That is true from the presidency on down to the local boy scout leader.
I was abused by a priest. When I told my parents guess whose side they took?

What you experienced is probably the worst betrayal I can imagine. I'm sure you have persevered, but I'm still sorry that you had that happen.

I've called out for a sheriff here a time or two. I quickly learned not to do that for anything less than a death.

(7,875 posts)Tragically, this bit of logic was lost on this pig. He clearly showed us why you never tell them you have a gun until they ask.
