But I lived there for 2 years, and STILL--now over 30 years later--go back to the area for my summer vacation. Still love New England, southern boy that I am. For that matter, The Standells were from L.A. and about as far from Boston as you could get and still be in the lower 48.

The Standells. This was a time when any song over three minutes long was considered "too long" for the AM radio stations. They definitely had a British sound, an Eric Burden and the Animals bluesy style. That used to be a standard in our "garage" band of the day (The Humans), with myself as front man and vocalist.
I remember those exciting days like it was yesterday. It was a great time to be young and American. Then came Vietnam.
Damn, I'm getting old.

Very simple and it worked. It's a far cry from todays over engineered pop. It's got that crude dirty feel to it that all the equipment in the world can't make. In other words it sounds real.
