Someday I want to visit an Onsen in Japan, and they don't allow you to stay if you have a tattoo.

The reason why the rest ban them is that in Japan, tattoos are associated with organized crime (Yakuza).

and I'm 52 years old so don't feel alone. I was never willing to go through the pain to be fashionable or fit in with the rest of the crowd.

And when I was a teenager, my mother wouldn't sign off on it, so my roommate did it for me when we were at boarding school!

As for tattoos, I really don't get it. When I was in school, I had a summer job at an amusement park. My first day I learned how to run the merry-go-round from Sam, a small elderly man who had the job for years. Sam had tattoos on his arms - maybe WWII vintage - and they had gotten all blurry. The inevitability of that happening has obviously stuck with me...

Which in my case would be mid-baby boomer (1952)...

Scars and birthmarks? Yup. But I have never really wanted to get a tattoo. Maybe I've never been drunk enough.

I don't have any tattoos, either. I don't even have my ears pierced, though I might want to in the near future.

I got scars instead, around 4-1/2 feet so far.

But I have been thinking about getting a tattoo of a scar lately, just for giggles.

After reading the above I'll stick with scars.

Yer killin' me girl.

I suspect Bob Dole did the deed 'cause Daniel Inouye was a hero and doesn't do the whole violence against females thing.

15. I've spent all these years to make sure my child survives childehood without a mark on his body.

I would be horrified if my child then vandalized that pristine body with tacky tattoos.

I hate tattoos. They're usually silly and ugly. But even when well drawn, they're disfiguring to the body.

Just get henna tattoos if you have an irresistible urge to graffiti your body. At least that washes off.
