(2 posts)I have been visiting DU since 2007 when I was in college and saw it as an outlet for a counter discussion to the Bush Cheney bumper stickers that were on 60% of cars in my state. Rarely do I take the time to login, let alone make a post.. But I gotta let one rip.. Her's my first one for starters.
It is frustrating to see how much benefit of the doubt fellow Democrats give to Morning Joe. These are the same hosts that practically camped out in front of Mar Largo to wish Trump a Happy New Year like it was Black Friday at Best Buy... This is the same show that enabled Donald Trump for the last half a decade. They are chameleons.
This show is bought and paid for by the insurance lobby, they are not speaking in your best interests or mine. They're just talking and wasting time. They're millionaires and whether there's a GOP or a Democratic government, they are still going to be millionaires. They have nothing to lose but pander to their own Status Quo Agenda.
Pandering to corporate America from the left is what got Donald Trump elected. Radical ideas shift policy. The fact that Bernie Sanders can get cosigners on this bill tells me he has changed America for the better.
Let's talk about Timing.. We should have had this discussion in 2008 when we controlled the House, Senate, and Executive Branch. "Saving the discussion for another day" is bulls***. Medicaid is broken Joe? Okay, well why don't you justify that fat salary and get your staff to do some homework so I don't have to get my 'intellectual news' from comedians. Bring on panels to discuss how we can improve Medicaid, Medicare, Obamacare- let's get proactive... Bernie's building you a fire, why don't you blow at the embers and make it grow rather than taking a bucket of water to it?
You think Bernie is acting in 'his own best interests'? His own best interest would have been to never have ran for President. His wife would not have been attacked and he would not have had to give up his nights and weekends for the last two years taking commercial flights across the country ( Tom Price, what a schmuck ). He's worked hard for us for a long time and he should be enjoying his retirement. Heck, if he was more self-serving he would be taking money from Pharma, the MIC, Wall Street, etc and sitting on a yacht in Nantucket. Instead he's standing up to BIG MONEY and taking heat from blowhards like Morning Joe and David Gergen. Bernie's fighting the good fight for you, for me and future generations. He's moving the pendulum.
Progressive's best defense is our offense because our message is ideologically pure and mainstream. If we are constantly defending the 'status quo' we will lose just like we lost a Supreme Court seat because the M$M did not DEMAND that an Administration under investigation, that just fired a treasonous National Security Adviser be held accountable... But ratings at MSNBC have been good! In fact, they have been great!! That's what really matters, right?? When it comes to which channel to watch on the M$M, it is a lot like ice cream, there's a few different flavors, but they all pretty much taste like swirl.
Here's the discussion I want to hear on healthcare: 10,000 Americans have been turning 65 since 2012. In 2022, 10,000 Americans will be turning 75. Are we still going to be debating what to do with Medicare in 2030? We have had 8 years of Clinton, 8 years of Bush, and 8 years of Obama- that's 2:1 Dem to GOP in Executive office. For whatever reason, the folks that are getting to that retirement age, have not been able to save money to a degree to live for 25 years, let alone 15. We might not get Single Payer in Bernie's lifetime, but if we do not have it by 2040- God Bless America.
