Thought automatic rifles ('machine guns') are illegal for civilians to own in the USA. Think again.

Technically, 'Tommy guns' have been banned since 1934, when Al Capone was using them to power spray Chicago. But there's a clever way around it. Here's how it works.

A fully automatic assault rifle fires continuously, as long as you hold the trigger down. Those kinds of weapons are used by soldiers and police. It's technically illegal to sell them to civilians.

A semi-automatic version is available to civilians, which fires only once when you pull the trigger. But it will fire as rapidly as you're able to pull the trigger.

A LEGAL gadget called a 'bump-stock,' available to any yatz for $200, uses the recoil from a semi-automatic rifle to pull the trigger each time a bullet fires....essentially converting the rifle into a FULLY AUTOMATIC ASSAULT RIFLE.

I couldn't believe that was legal, until I heard the ATF Special Agent in Las Vegas say that Paddock had twelve semi-automatic rifles in his room that had been converted to full automatics with bump-stocks, AND THAT THEY WERE PERFECTLY LEGAL. Very comforting to think that any malicious punk can essentially own a machine gun.

2. We are a country of loopholes.

The rich have loopholes you can drive a truck thru and pay little or no taxes. The poor and middle class get loopholes you can't slide a dime thru. Even Justice Scalia said that Congress had a perfectly legitimate role to play in passing laws about WHAT KINDS of guns people can keep and bear.

I saw the asshats at Fux News saying "WHAT kind of gun laws could you pass to prevent this?" I'll tell you what kind. How about banning everything but bolt and lever action rifles? I'd like to see some clown shoot nearly 600 people in ten minutes with a bolt-action hunting rifle.
