2. What Fallout Shelter?
Some are used for storage, some are infested with vermin of various species, others are so dilapidated that they have become totally useless as a shelter!
But congress has their little hidey hole, as does the president and his cronies, but for the American people...we get to take the brunt of this fake haired, orange faced, shit gibbon's, fuck up!!! When the smoke clears and the rats come out of their holes, they aren't going to find a country in need of leadership, they're going to find a lot of pissed off people, who will take their revenge on the cowards that ran to prepared holes, while we suffered!!! |

4. In 1965 my parents became supers in an apartment building.
The basement had a civil defense area. Lot's of huge drums but one was cracked. My Mom looked inside and it was loaded with green moldy crackers. Even then it was a joke.

5. After Fukushima hit the West Coast we updated our earthquake kit for nuke fallout
Didn't take much more, some plastic, sealant tape, HEPAA air filters & a few odd radiation detectors. We had a chance to try them out a few times when there were wildfires - couldn't smell them at all indoors with everything sealed & the filters on. And when they disturbed the soil in Fuku during the cleanup, we watched the readings go up outside as the waves of particulates traveled around the globe, but inside the house was (we assume) free of particles. We've always got N95 or better masks in the workshop & if we had to we could set up a decontamination shower in the garage/breezeway.
So, yeah. We can shelter in place for a week or two easily. It's not the outside radiation levels that will get you, it's breathing in or ingesting particles that don't leave for an extended time & it doesn't take much to protect against them. |

6. I have one
The previous owners of my home were an extremely eccentric couple from Taiwan planning for the end of the world. I used to use it for storage but water has been getting into it the last couple of years.
