(1,068 posts)Taking the Bible and politicizing stuff out of it is reprehensible. You call it being and Christian and something God wants. What kind of scriptures are you people reading? Where is your toleration of your fellow man? In what part of the Bible does God say "Go screw these people over to get what you want"? All of you have to get your heads out of your donkey's asses.

(841 posts)Many of the right-wing Christians I know have horrid views that are so outside of what Jesus taught that I wonder how they make it fit together in their head. Just this Easter my uncle was going on about how he thinks a good plague would solve our homelessness problem. This from a guy who goes to church every Sunday and talks about Christian morality. Christian morality for him basically means being a wealthy white guy who goes to church for an hour a week and that is it.

(2,065 posts)I was driving the local streets near where I live, and I saw a local gun shop with the Christian fish symbol in the window. I chuckled to myself as I thought about going in there and asking the proprietor: WWJMD - or, Who Would Jesus Mow Down?
I never could have dreamed when I was younger that I would EVER live in such a crazy country!

(19,192 posts)Exactly. Stinking. Correct. The youth of this country must learn how to creatively think before accepting the myths and superstition of organized religion. These "christian nationalists" must be stopped dead in their tracks. Believing that Donald Trump was "sent by god" is all the proof anyone needs to see how utterly delusional these people are.
For the most part, today's youth aren't easily fooled by politicians' rhetoric, and think much less provincially than past generations. Their thinking is more global in scale, and many see how the scales gave been tipped in this country's favor. That "tipping" usually came by military might and governmental heavy-handedness, not from some divine intervention.
I have a lot of faith in the youth of America. I believe a great many of them can already separate the bullshit from the truth. Through social media they've learned to be activists, not victims of some bronze-age religious dogma.
